Privacy Policy

How much you tell us is up to you. Direct Cycle Parts uses the information you give us to take your order, get your parts to you, and answer your questions — and for nothing else. This page describes what we actually collect and what we actually do with it.

What we collect

When you place an order, that is typically your name, shipping address, billing address, email address and phone number, plus anything else you choose to send us — a note on the order, or the year and model of your motorcycle so we can check fitment.

If you create an account we keep your order history and any saved addresses so you do not have to re-enter them. You can update them from your account at any time.

If you bought from us before this site launched, we still hold your past orders and address book from our previous store. Your email address is already on file: setting a password for this site links you back to that history.

Payment details

Card details are entered on a secure form served by our payment processor and go straight to them. We never see or store your full card number. What we retain is the card type and the last four digits, so we can identify a payment when you call us about an order.

Email and text messages

Order confirmations, shipping notices, return paperwork and replies to your questions are part of the transaction and are sent to the email address on the order.

Marketing email and text messages are separate, and both are opt-in. When you create an account or check out you are offered two tick boxes — one for email updates and one for SMS/text — and both arrive unticked. Nothing is assumed from an order.

If you opt in to text messages, or text us about an order, we hold your mobile number and the messages exchanged, and we share that only with the vendors who deliver the messages for us — the messaging platform and the phone carriers. We will not share your SMS opt-in with any third party for a purpose unrelated to the messages you opted in to. Message and data rates from your own carrier may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or ask us and we will remove you.

When you contact us

Several parts of the site ask for your email address so we can come back to you, and each of them stores what you sent along with it:

  • The contact form and emails to our support address, which become a support ticket.
  • Live chat — we keep the transcript with the conversation.
  • Back-in-stock alerts and availability checks on a part.
  • Shipping quote requests for destinations outside the lower 48.

If you buy a gift card we also store the recipient's name and email address, and your message to them, so we can deliver it.

What we do with it — and what we never do

We use your information to fulfil orders, process returns and refunds, respond to your questions and improve the site. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

We share it only with the parties who have to see it to get your order to you, and only what they need for that purpose: the shipping carrier, the payment processor, our email and messaging providers, and — where a part ships direct — the manufacturer or distributor filling that line.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, such as a valid legal request, or to protect against fraud.

Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of information your browser stores so the site works from one page to the next. Ours do three things: keep you signed in, keep your shopping cart, and remember the motorcycle you selected for fitment so we can filter parts to it.

We do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies on this site, and our cookies do not contain payment details. Your browser can block or delete cookies; the cart, sign-in and checkout will not work without them.

Security and retention

The entire site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to order data is limited to the staff who need it. We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting, warranty and tax purposes.

Your choices

Email us to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted where we are not required to keep it. We will confirm your identity first, and then act on it. You can also unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any marketing message, and opt out of texts by replying STOP.

Changes to this policy

We may change this policy at any time. Where a change is substantial we will tell our customers by email. The date at the foot of this page always shows when it was last revised.
