Returns & Exchanges
You have 30 days from delivery to return or exchange most parts. Start with a phone call or an email — we will tell you straight away whether the part can go back, and issue a Return Authorization (RA) number.
How to start a return
- Contact us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and the part you want to send back.
- We issue an RA number and the return address. Every return needs an RA number. Parts that turn up unannounced take far longer to identify and refund, and some cannot be matched to an order at all.
- Pack the part in its original box, with all hardware and instructions, write the RA number on the outside, and send it back.
What we can accept
A returned part has to be resellable: unused, uninstalled and unaltered, in its original packaging, complete with any hardware, fasteners and paperwork it shipped with. Anything showing that it was fitted to a motorcycle — scuffed mounting faces, marked fasteners, cut zip ties, heat marks on an exhaust — cannot be resold and cannot be accepted.
Opening the box is fine. You are meant to look at a part before you fit it, and we do not charge you for that. What matters is that the part itself is unused and that the packaging is intact enough for the next customer.
These items cannot be returned at all:
- Special-order and custom-made parts, for any reason.
- Used or installed parts.
- Opened electronics. An opened electronic part can only be exchanged or warrantied for the same unit if it is faulty — it cannot be returned for a refund or swapped for something different.
- Anything marked as non-returnable on its own product page.
Fitment is the buyer's responsibility. Our fitment data and product descriptions are a guide, and we are glad to check a fit for you before you order — that phone call is free and it saves everyone a return.
Restocking fees
- No restocking fee on a standard return. Send a part back within 30 days, unused and in its original packaging, and you get the item price back in full — opened but unused is fine.
- Seats and large handlebars: a $25 restocking fee plus return shipping, whatever their condition. They are bulky, easily marked and expensive for us to put back into stock.
No restocking fee is charged when the return is our error or the part is defective.
After 30 days the return window has closed and we are not obliged to take the part back at all. Ask us anyway — we often can, particularly on unopened stock — and we will tell you what we can do and what it will cost before you ship anything to us.
Return shipping
If you changed your mind, ordered the wrong thing, or no longer need the part, return shipping is yours to arrange — or we can do it for you:
- We issue a call tag: nothing to pay up front, and $7.95 is deducted from your refund or exchange.
- You ship it back yourself: no $7.95 deduction. You pay your own carrier.
The $7.95 call tag covers any part that is not oversize. Oversize parts — handlebars, exhaust, tires, fairings and similar — cost more to move, so the deduction is based on the actual weight and size of the item, capped at $30.00. We will tell you the figure before you commit.
The call tag is a service we can only buy inside the contiguous 48 states. If you are returning from Alaska, Hawaii, a US territory, an APO/FPO address or outside the United States, you arrange and pay the return carriage, and the $7.95 and $30.00 figures above do not apply. Contact us first: we will give you the return address and the paperwork the carrier will want, because returning goods are usually declared differently from a purchase.
If the mistake is ours
If we shipped the wrong part, or the part arrived damaged or defective, the return is on us. We send a prepaid label, cover shipping both ways, and no fee of any kind applies. Tell us within 30 days of delivery.
Exchanges
Exchanges work on the same terms as returns. Contact us within 30 days, and once the original part is back with us unused and in its packaging we send the replacement. If the exchange is needed because of our error we cover shipping both ways; if you ordered the wrong size, finish or fitment, return shipping is yours.
Refunds
Refunds go back to the original payment method once the return has arrived and been inspected. Your bank or card issuer may take a few days more to show the credit. Original shipping charges are refunded only when the return is our error.
Warranty claims
Parts are covered by the manufacturer's own warranty, and terms differ from one manufacturer to the next. If warranty paperwork came in the box, follow it. If it did not, call us and we will point you at the right process or take the claim up with the manufacturer on your behalf.
We are not responsible for labor or installation costs. If a manufacturer defect means a job has to be done twice, that labor is not covered by Direct Cycle Parts — please confirm a part is correct and undamaged before your shop starts work.
