Shipping Policy
Inside the contiguous 48 states shipping is a flat $7.95, and free on orders of $149 or more. Everywhere else — Alaska, Hawaii, the US territories, APO/FPO addresses and every international destination — is quoted by hand before you pay anything. See Outside the lower 48.
Contiguous 48 states
- Orders under $149: flat $7.95 per order, however many boxes it takes.
- Orders of $149 or more: free standard shipping.
- The $149 threshold is worked out on the item subtotal — after any discount, before tax.
- Standard shipping goes by UPS, FedEx or USPS. We choose the service.
How long it takes
Orders are picked on business days, Monday to Friday. As soon as an order ships we email you the tracking number, and the carrier's own delivery estimate travels with it. We do not promise a delivery date — once a package is with the carrier, the timetable is theirs.
We carry parts from a large number of manufacturers, and some items ship directly from the manufacturer or distributor who stocks them. An order with several items can therefore arrive in more than one box, on more than one day, at no extra cost to you. Each shipment gets its own tracking number.
If tracking has not moved for several days, tell us and we will chase the carrier for you.
Faster delivery
Expedited and overnight services are available through UPS, FedEx and USPS. They are quoted individually, because the cost depends on the weight and size of the parts, so contact us before you place the order and we will arrange it and tell you the cost first.
Hazardous materials
Items classified as hazardous materials for shipping — which includes all motor oils, aerosols and some chemicals — do not qualify for free shipping. Orders under $149 that contain hazardous materials pay the standard $7.95. On orders of $149 or more that contain hazardous materials (a case of oil, for example) shipping is added after the order is placed, and we will tell you the charge and get your agreement before we process it.
Outside the lower 48
This covers Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, APO/FPO/DPO military addresses, and every destination outside the United States.
We do not take payment at checkout for any of these destinations. The $7.95 flat rate and the free-over-$149 offer are lower-48 rates only and never apply outside the contiguous 48 states. Instead, shipping is quoted by hand:
- You put the order together as normal and submit a shipping request at checkout with your delivery address. No card is asked for and no money is taken.
- We price the carriage on the actual weight, size and destination of the parts, and email you the shipping options we can offer.
- The email contains a link back to our site. You open it, pick the option you want, and pay for the parts plus the shipping you chose — in one payment, at that point.
A quote is valid for 14 days from the day we send it. A request we have not yet quoted expires after 30 days. If either runs out, just ask us and we will quote it again.
You will need an account, or the emailed link, to complete the payment. The link is single-use and does not sign you in to anything.
Duties, taxes and customs
On anything leaving the United States, import duties, destination taxes such as VAT or GST, and customs brokerage fees are the customer's responsibility. They are set by the destination country and collected by the carrier or by customs, usually before they will release your package. They are not included in the shipping we charge, we do not receive any part of them, and we cannot tell you in advance what they will be. Your own country's customs service is the place to check before you order.
Customs can add delay that neither we nor the carrier controls.
What we cannot send
Some parts cannot leave the country, and no amount of shipping will change that:
- Hazardous materials, by carrier rule — oils, aerosols, paints, solvents, and lithium batteries or parts that contain them.
- Territory-restricted brands. Some manufacturers only permit us to sell their parts inside the United States.
If an order for one of these destinations contains something in either category we will tell you, then cancel and refund that item rather than ship it. The rest of the order carries on as normal.
We also cannot ship to Cuba, Iran, North Korea or Syria at all.
Damaged shipments
If a package arrives damaged, tell the carrier at the door and have the driver record the damage before you sign. Then contact us within 2 business days of the delivery or drop-off date. We will arrange for the carrier to collect the damaged package, and as soon as the carrier has it back we can re-ship your parts.
If the box was fine but the part inside was damaged by the manufacturer, contact us and we will take it up as a warranty claim — see our returns and exchanges policy.
Backorders
Occasionally demand for a part outruns what the manufacturer can build. If something you ordered turns out to be unavailable you are not charged for it, and anything already taken for it is refunded. We will contact you to tell you what is happening, and when the part becomes available we let you know before it is billed and shipped.
Sales tax
Sales tax is applied where the law requires it and is shown at checkout before you pay.
